The Story Behind Bohemia

Sometimes life takes you somewhere you never expected to stay.

In 2011, I came to Calgary for what was supposed to be a two-year contract. When those two years were up, I was offered the opportunity to return to BC. But by then, I had fallen in love with Alberta — the land, the people, and the incredible sense of community. Alberta had become home. 

Then, in 2015, I walked into a little store in Black Diamond called Bohemia.

And I fell in love all over again.

A few months later, Bohemia became mine. It was a very different little store back then, but over the years, with plenty of love, hard work, creativity, and a little bit of bohemian magic, it grew into the Bohemia you know today.

In 2023, my daughter joined me as co-owner. She had been working behind the scenes for years, especially on our buying trips, and had fallen just as deeply in love with Bohemia as I had. She left her real estate career in Vancouver, moved to Alberta, and jumped into this adventure with me. 

Since then, we’ve continued building Bohemia together — not only as a business, but as a reflection of the things we love: beautiful clothing, creativity, connection, and community.

Today, Bohemia is so much more than a clothing store.

It’s our passion. It’s our creative outlet. It’s our happy place. Most importantly, it’s our connection to an amazing community.

We love Black Diamond. We love Alberta. We love our customers. And we love our Bohemian family.
